This paper deals with the modelling of a surface-mounted permanent magnet motor that may be used to enhance the performance of electric automobiles. Finite element analysis was used to calculate various geometric, electrical and magnetic parameters that were used for the simulated modelling and testing of the motor. Using the simulation, various possibilities of connecting a three phase motor were examined. The results of the simulation indicate the suitability of this method for designing, testing and evaluating magnetic motor systems for electric automobiles.
