Quality in Maintenance Systems in Sultanate of Oman Refineries = أنظمة حماية الجودة فى معامل تكرير البترول بسلطنة عمان

The Aim of the study was to conduct a detailed investigation for generating better knowledge about the existing quality maintenance theory and to deliver it to the oil and gas industries in Oman. Following objectives are developed to be used in the accomplishment of the study. • To carry out a background research on maintenance in the Oil and Gas industry (including current trends and importance of maintenance) • To examining the maintenance strategies that have been adopted in the Oil and Gas industry, in general, and their pros and cons • To define what ‘quality’ means in relation to maintenance • To investigate barriers affecting ‘quality’ in the delivery of maintenance in the Oil and Gas sector The main result of the study is that its been found that Oman still follows the traditional centralised maintenance approach and the system is reliant on national staff’s experience and skills. The findings ultimately show that Oman can be act as a role model for other Middle Eastern countries, while making some improvements within its present maintenance system infrastructure.
