The National Archives is considered as the main memory of the country because it contains historical documents in its various forms to witness to the past as real historical facts and events, and the National Records and Archives Authority is considered the national archive of the Sultanate of Oman, after the issuance of Royal Decree No. 60 of 2007 regarding the issuance of the Law of Records and Archives and its executive regulations, which, in its first material, decided to establish a body whose mission is to organize and manage documents and archives affiliated with the Council of Ministers and enjoys legal personality and administrative and financial independence and is based in the city of Muscat, and is called the National Archives and Records Authority. This study consisted of; an introduction that dealt with the problem of the study, its importance, goals and questions; and its research method and tools, then the body of the study consisted of 4 sections as follows: The first section: What are archives and their characteristics The second section: the Archivist and the importance of his role. Section Three: Archival Profession and Archiving. Section IV: The National Archives and Archives Authority In the end, the study dealt with the most important results of the study and the most important recommendations and then the conclusion followed by a list of references.
