This study aimed to apply the (CoRT) program in Arabic language classes of eighth basic school students at the Sultanate of Oman. The sample consisted of two groups; control, (60) and experimental (60); where the experimental group consisted of two classrooms of males and females. The control group, and the experimental group were given the skills and activities of the (1 and 2- CoRT) program over the full academic year; allocating one class of comprehension to each skill, and in the end of the year the two groups were given a test to measure the improvement of written comprehension and use of the skills that were given during the year. Results showed statistically significant differences at the level (0.001) in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed significant differences between males and females in favor of males. With regard to the differences between the experimental and control groups of both males and females separately; results indicated the presence of statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group of males. For females, the results showed no statistical significance between the two groups. Accordingly, the study found a set of conclusions, and recommendations, including: the effectiveness of the program was positive among students in general, and so we recommend its application on a larger scale.
