The aim of the Journal is to bring together international practitioner and academic expertise to promote and support the understanding and practice of Human Resource Development. To achieve its overarching aim the Journal: adopts a practice driven perspective to the understanding of HRD: its construction, organizational and national positioning and its influence and impact. encourages the exploration and reporting of pioneering and innovative practices in HRD at the individual, group and organisational levels in diverse settings. highlights theory informed practice and practice based research as key pathways to an enriched understanding of HRD, wherever it is practiced. engages in practitioner and academic debate on innovative practice using country, industry, sector and organisationally specific case studies. promotes rigorous analysis, review and discussion of HRD practice, policy and research. is committed to ensuring contributions are drawn from a global context and have an interest to an international readership. is committed to a peer review process for article contributions. The journal is sponsored by a partnership between the European Association of People Management, the University Forum for Human Resource Development (UFHRD) and the World Federation of People Management Associations. The European Association for People Management (EAPM) was founded in 1962 and is an umbrella body for national HR and people management organisations representing HR and people professionals across 34 European countries. Formed in 1999 the UFHRD is an international association for universities, reflective practitioners, and learning oriented organisations. The Forum’s mission is to create, develop and inform leading–edge HRD theories and practices by promoting professionally-focused qualifications, co-operative research initiatives, consultancy interventions. The WFPMA is a global network of professionals in people management. It was founded in 1976 to aid the development and improve the effectiveness of professional people management all over the world. Its members are predominantly the continental federations which are made up of more than 90 national human resource associations representing over 660,000 people management professionals.
