This article investigates the concept of training in the financial services sector. Reference is made to the reasons for training, creating a learning organisation and assessment of individual training. Assessment of long-term training is evaluated, training design as well as planning for training. Training needs in the financial services sector are identified and defined, followed by the objectives of training in the sector. Training characteristics are described, retention of learned material are touched upon as well as evaluation of training ex post facto.
