Classes’ attendance decision requires a high level of motivation among the students. The students’ academic grade are highly determined by the frequencies of their classes’ attendance. The purpose of the study was to identify factors impacting students’ classes’ attendance decisions and the students’ opinion on whether rate of classes’ attendance affects academic performance or not. Structured questionnaires were distributed among students of Higher National Diploma in Business Administration. Making the course content easier to understand (90.5%), getting information that may not be in the note (88%) , knowing the area of concentration for the examination (85.5%), interest in the course content (80.25%), the fear of impromptu class test by the lecturers (75.5%) and taking of notes (70%) are the main reason for students classes’ attendance decision. A significant percentage of the students (86.25%) believed that academic performance depends on rate of class attendance. Better understanding of these factors may assist policy makers in the higher institution of learning in designing effective interventions to facilitate student attendance.
