The world is seeing a huge surge in data generation. The rate of data generation has overshadowed successful utilization because Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation has not attained maturity. There are numerous sources of data, such as mobile devices, sensors, and social media (e.g. Twitter, Foursquare, and Flickr). This study classifies emerging data sources into four categories namely, social media networks, business/ transaction system, government/ administrative system, and ubiquitous system. These systems have enormous data generation potentials, useful in prediction, forecasting, and decisions makings through AI techniques. The study further, presents the process of decisions making using emerging data sources and the challenges in its successful implementation.
