Accelerated developments have been affected all aspects of education and management, which means that the principal's approach to the desired development processes requires managerial skills to cope with change resistance to achieve excellence and development in schools. The problem is that the globalization is forcing rapid qualitative shifts in the work of administrations, the role of school principals, and the abandonment of inherited routines in which schools are run. This quantitative study aims at diagnosing the extent to which principals are aware of the development skills, the difficulties they face, and their views on improving the role of the principals. A descriptive analytical approach was used; a questionnaire of three-pronged was used to collect data, distributed to a sample of (71) principals. The (SPSS) used in a set of statistical methods to process the study data. The findings revealed that; the awareness of school principals in their role in development management was high, while the difficulties that hinder managers from exercising their roles were medium. The direction of principals, confirmed the provision of material requirements that ranked first, training and rehabilitation, and then moral requirements, and the independence of the school, and finally awareness and education. The researcher recommended, more training for school principals, the need for workshops and courses, as well as providing the material requirements for the development process.
