This analytical study aims at diagnosing the availability of content standards issued by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) in the content of mathematics books in the Sultanate, which is scheduled for the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. The problem is shown in the low scores of eighth graders in Oman in the International Mathematics and Science Test (TIMSS), with 19% of students answering this question. In addition to the fact that the researcher teaches mathematics books in the second cycle of basic education, in response to the recommendations of the studies, and the recommendations of the conferences and seminars, it became necessary to develop mathematics courses in the Sultanate of Oman. Using the analysis card for the field of “numbers and operations” that contains (3) criteria and (14) indicators; the content of the eighth grade showed less content consistent with (NCTM) standards, where (5) indicators were not available. In the sixth grade, (4) indicators were not available and (3) indicators in seventh grade were missing. The researcher recommended the need to develop mathematics courses for grades 6, 7 and 8.
